FSSAI Registration & Food Licence in India

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) requires every food business operator (FBO) to hold a Basic Registration, a State Licence or a Central Licence depending on turnover, production capacity and the nature of the business. The 14-digit FSSAI number must be printed on every food label, and it is checked by retailers, marketplaces, banks and export authorities.

Licence categories

• Basic Registration — small FBOs with turnover up to ₹12 lakh a year
• State Licence — turnover between ₹12 lakh and ₹20 crore; medium manufacturers, hotels, restaurants, traders, distributors, storage

2. Submit the form with your details; our FSSAI desk calls you within one business day to confirm the category and the document list.
3. Share documents by e-mail / WhatsApp and pay the fee.
4. We file Form A / Form B on FoSCoS, pay the government fee at actuals and respond to any query raised by the licensing officer.
5. Certificate issued — you receive the FSSAI licence / registration certificate by e-mail; we then design and print your FSSAI-compliant labels if required.

• Photo ID and address proof of the proprietor / partners / directors (Aadhaar, PAN, passport or voter ID)
• Passport-size photograph of the applicant
• Proof of business premises (rent agreement / electricity bill / property papers) and a NOC from the owner if rented
• Business constitution proof — GST certificate, partnership deed, certificate of incorporation, MOA / AOA, as applicable

• Food safety management plan and, for manufacturers, unit layout, list of machinery, water test report and production capacity
• Import-Export Code (IEC) for importers / exporters; NOC from the municipality for restaurants where required

FSSAI licences and registrations are issued for 1 to 5 years — you pay the annual government fee multiplied by the years chosen. Renewal must be filed before expiry (a late renewal attracts penalties and a lapsed licence means stopping operations until re-issue).
