A patent gives you a 20-year exclusive right to make, use, sell and license an invention that is new, involves an inventive step and is capable of industrial application. Filing early secures your priority date; a provisional specification lets you claim the date while the invention is finalised, and the complete specification must follow within 12 months.
Our patent desk explains what can be patented, conducts a prior-art search across Indian and international databases, drafts the specification and claims with a registered patent agent, files the application and the request for examination, and handles the first examination report, hearings and grant formalities. After grant we manage annual renewal fees so the patent stays in force.
A granted patent is valid for 20 years from the filing date (of the provisional application, where one was filed). Annual renewal fees are payable from the third year onward to keep it in force; missing a renewal lapses the patent. We maintain the renewal calendar for every patent we file.

Abstract ideas, mathematical methods, business methods as such, computer programs per se, natural discoveries and methods of medical treatment are excluded under Indian law; we advise before you invest in drafting.
File a provisional when the invention is still being refined — it secures your priority date at a lower drafting cost; the complete specification must be filed within 12 months. If the invention is final, file the complete specification directly.
The Patent Office charges a filing fee, an examination fee and later renewal fees, all lower for individuals, startups, small entities and educational institutions than for other applicants (Patents Rules, First Schedule). The calculator shows the filing fee per category; examination and additional-page / claim fees are confirmed with the draft. All government fees are paid at actuals.
Yes — after filing you may market the product marked “patent pending”. Public disclosure before filing, however, can destroy novelty, so keep the invention confidential until the application is filed.
